At the start of 2019, the USGA together with the R&A collaborated to issue a single set of revised Rules that they felt fit the needs of today’s game while preserving golf’s essential principles and character. Their intent was “to make the Rules easier for all golfers to understand and apply” by making these Rules more “consistent, simple and fair” while addressing two major issues –
“ Improved Pace of Play and Environmental Stewardship” of the course.
Although the revised Rules were well intended, Rule 13.2 (putting with the flag stick in without incurring a penalty if the ball were to hit the flag stick) has had unintended consequences.
UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
Pace of Play – has not improved, in fact it has slowed!
Environmental Stewards – there has actually been a noticeable increase in physical damage to the hole as well as the area immediately surrounding the hole.

Will the EZ Ball Remover fit on all size flag sticks?
The EZ Ball Remover was designed to fit on any flag stick that does not exceed 3/4 " in diameter.

How is it installed?
It is a simple installation – remove the flag on the flag stick, place the EZ Ball Remover over the flag stick and slide it down to the ferrule, replace the flag and replace the flag stick into the cup.

How does it affect the Pace of Play?
By using the EZ Ball Remover the entire group can putt out rather than have each individual golfer putt out and retrieve their individual ball. This will save time and minimize foot traffic (footprints and scuffing) around the hole.

How does it prevent damage to the hole?
By using the EZ Ball Remover there is no need for each golfer to reach into the hole to retrieve their ball – whether by reaching down into the hole with their hand, using a plastic gadget on the end of their putter or be attempting to take a blade putter and “scoop” the ball out. All of these examples can and do cause damage to the integrity of the hole.

If it contacts the green when replacing the flag stick will it cause any damage?
No, it does not cause any damage. EZ Ball Remover only weighs 1 ounce and is not secured to the flag stick rather it “floats” on the flag stick if contact is inadvertently made with the green when replacing the flag stick then it merely slides up the flag stick and seats itself at the bottom of the hole when the flag stick is properly seated in the cup.

When the flag stick is pulled out of the hole and placed on the green, will the EZ Ball Remover damage the green?
No, it will not damage the green when placed on the green. The EZ Ball Remover itself weighs only 1 oz. and it flattens to a 45 degree angle providing a broad surface for weight distribution when making contact with the green. Further, the EZ Ball Remover was designed with a rounded outside edge - no sharp angles or edges come in contact with the green.
